WHY MOBIUS?

SCIENCE IS IMPORTANT
  • Mobius has a track record of success in helping kids master science standards.  A decreasing number of kids are learning science well...the US ranked 23rd out of 65 developed countries on the 2009 PISA test ( http://nces.ed.gov/surveys/PISA/pisa2009highlights_4.asp). Science deeply affects the world we live in and has the power to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing global society.

MOBIUS ENGAGES ALL TYPES OF LEARNERS
  • Mobius engages all types of learners (kinesthetic, visual, auditory) and gives them a positive experience learning solid science. In the United States we need more students, and a more diverse group of students, going into the field of science in order to create solutions to the challenges facing our nation and humanity.  Mobius aims to open up the pathways into the field of science by making the learning more accessible and exciting to different kinds of learners; what kind of creative solutions might emerge from a more diverse field of scientists?

SCIENCE AND MOVEMENT
  • Mobius brings together the benefits of science, art and physical education by incorporating creative movement with science instruction. Many schools have cut arts and physical education from the school day. No Child Left Behind mandates only for reading and math; Mobius provides a potent, time-efficient way to offset the resulting neglect of science.  Mobius also provides an important opportunity for kids to be physically active in a non-competitive environment.
SCIENCE AND NATURE
  • Mobius views science education as an important link in developing a student's relationship with nature.  Lessons are geared to help kids notice and appreciate the naturally occurring patterns that shape our lives.
